Hello and a warm welcome!

I'm delighted you've joined this gentle, empowering online course: Qigong for Diabetes – A 9-Move Routine.

My name is Andy Wright, and I've created this free course especially for people living with diabetes (or those interested in prevention and better metabolic health). Drawing from traditional Chinese practices and modern insights, I've carefully researched and designed a simple, targeted 9-move qigong set. Each movement supports good Qi (vital energy) flow, which in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is seen as key to addressing patterns like Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst disorder, akin to diabetes symptoms).

Why Qigong for Diabetes?

Qigong is an ancient mind-body practice combining slow, flowing movements, coordinated breathing, and focused intention (meditation in motion). Unlike intense Western exercise, it's low-impact, accessible (even seated if needed), and emphasises cultivating internal energy rather than just physical effort.

Research (including systematic reviews and randomised trials up to recent years) shows promising benefits for type 2 diabetes management:

This isn't a cure or replacement for Western treatments—always consult your GP or diabetes team before starting, especially if you have complications, use insulin, or monitor blood sugars closely. But regular gentle practice can be a wonderful tool for self-care, prevention, and feeling more in balance.

What to Expect in This Course

This is a straightforward, beginner-friendly programme built around a specific 9-move routine I've put together after studying effective qigong forms (like elements inspired by Baduanjin/Eight Pieces of Brocade and other diabetes-supportive practices). Each move targets aspects beneficial for diabetes, such as:

The routine is short enough for daily practice (typically 10–20 minutes once you're familiar), yet comprehensive. We'll cover:

Practice consistently—many see subtle shifts in energy, mood, and even glucose readings over weeks/months. Start slow, listen to your body, and enjoy the process.

Thank you for being here. You're taking a positive step toward better health and harmony.

Let's begin—your first session awaits in the next module. Breathe deeply, move mindfully, and let's cultivate that vital Qi together!
